Second Round of Playoffs – Florida vs. Ohio State

What exactly is a Buckeye?  Well, in today’s matchup, a Buckeye is Gator bait.  Ohio State has a pretty good defense, but unless they have some kryptonite, they are in for a long game against superman, Tim Tebow and his Florida Gators.  All indications are this going to be a one sided affair.  But Tressel has brought his magic sweater vest to the party to try and even the score.  Who knows, he may be able to conjure up a miracle or two and give the Gators a ticket out of the playoffs.

Second Round of Playoffs – USC vs. Alabama

The Tide could be rolling in on the team from Southern California.  This matchup pits two vaunted defenses against two workman like offenses.  USC’s offense has shown sparks of brilliance followed by shades of ineptness, while Alabama has relied on a strong running game to pound their opponents into submission.  Look for a low scoring affair with a slight advantage going to the home team Crimson Tide.

Second Round of Playoffs – Texas vs. Utah

The second game of the second round has no real surprises as far as the matchup goes. Texas is set to take on Utah. A one-beaten against an unbeaten. Look for a the Utes to keep the ball out of Colt McCoy’s hands. The advantage goes slightly to the Longhorns, but no one would be surprised if Utah pulls out a win.

Second Round of Playoffs – Penn State vs. Buffalo

The second round is here and we have at least one unexpected participant. The story of the playoffs is the Buffalo Bulls. They thrashed the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round and are ready to tame the Penn State Nittnay Lions. Do they still have the magic? Can Turner Gill rally his troops and get them to play over the heads again? It’s the new guard versus the old in this one.

Ohio State Advances

Ohio State Trounce the Red Raiders!

Ohio State Trounces the Red Raiders!

The Buckeyes looked painfully ineffective in the first half of their playoff matchup against Texas Tech, but something got into them in the second half. They opened up the offense and stifled the Red Raiders. They won in impressive fashion. Final score is 38-21. The Florida Gators are next up for the Buckeyes.

Playoff Schedule

The second round of the playoffs starts tomorrow.  I will be posting two games tomorrow and two games on Wednesday.  I’m going to make it a little harder to win to try to simulate a real playoff.  Each game will be open for just four days of voting as oppossed to seven.  In round three it will be two days of voting and then for the championship it will be one day of voting.  So you have to be focused if you want to win.

Gators Win

Gators Chomp Trojans

Gators Chomp Trojans

Score: 55-14

The Trojans from Troy were no match for Tim Tebow and the mighty Florida Gators (or is that the Florida Gators and the mighty Tim Tebow).  It was a contest early on, but the other Gators decided to start playing just for the heck of it, and they game quickly got out of hand.  The SEC champs now await the winner of the Ohio State/Texas Tech game.
