I’m going to be bad in 2009!

Enough of this nice guy stuff. I’m going to be bad this year. Well, not actually me, but a character named Richard Ridley will be awesomely bad in an upcoming thriller written by Jeremy Robinson (now you know my first name). Jeremy dropped me a note last week letting me know about his new bad guy, and I’m loving every wicked moment of it. I’ve secretly always wanted to be an evil geneticist. Lack of brains and overall evilness is the only thing holding me back. Here’s what Jeremy had to say in his initial email:

I named the bad guy in PULSE after you. Richard Ridley is the head of Manifold Genetics and into some unsavory science. He’s a fun character, but can be…brutal at times. I used a bunch of upcoming authors as names for characters in the book. Just thought it’d be fun. 🙂 Scott Sigler, Lewis Aleman and Steven Savile are all authors in the book too, though I changed Scott’s first name to Jack.

Here’s a description of PULSE:

Imagine a world where soldiers regenerate and continue fighting without pause, and where suicide bombers live to strike again. This is the dream of Richard Ridley, founder of Manifold Genetics, and he has discovered the key to eternal life: an ancient artifact buried beneath a Greek inscribed stone in the Peruvian desert.

When Manifold steals the artifact and abducts archaeologist Dr. George Pierce, the United States Special Forces Delta operator, Jack Sigler, callsign King, and his “Chess Team”—Queen, Knight, Rook, Bishop and their handler, Deep Blue—give chase. They must save Pierce and stop Manifold before they change the face of genetics—and human history—forever.

According to the Amazon detail page, the book will be released in May of 2009, but it is available for pre-order now!

Jeremy also has another book coming out on January 16, 2009 titled Kronos. If you like sea monsters (and who doesn’t) this is the book for you. Here’s the trailer:

I will be returning the favor. Look for a slightly insane Bigfoot hunter named Jeremy Robinson in my new book titled “Lost Days.” Release date as yet to be determined.

  1. This is me, jealous! (grrrr) I’ve always wanted to have a character named for me!

    • Ha! I was totally jazzed when Jeremy told me. I felt cool for a minute. And then I got back to the real world and discovered that Obama used up all the cool on the planet.

By the way, there’s a character named J-Rob in my new book.
