  1. Richard,

Nice site. I liked the video of your book for YouTube.

  2. Howard,

Thanks for the visit and thanks for the thumbs up on the video. How goes it over at Noboundary?

  3. Hello Richard
I enjoyed our talk this afternoon and I am finding your links from you email something to get excited about. Off the top of my head I am looking for other writers to do scripts based on poems from “The Naked Truth of a Common Man 101 Poems ” If you want to take a wack at audio drama pick out a poem and see what you can come with. I am still working on a format for audio theratre scripts and I still havent decided which format would work for Stillriver Productions but time will work that out. Nice thing happened this afternoon after our phone call, I went and bought the digital recording equipment needed for my recording studio. Now I just have to figure out how to use it!!

    warm regards

  4. Hello Richard Ridley,
My name is Richard Ridley also. Are we related? Good question. I plan on doing a family tree soon and will find out. But in the meantime, I do plan to read at least one of your books. Do you have a suggestion which one 9of course, may even read all!). Look forward to reading them and seeing if you live up to the name..lol
    Have a good day.

  5. Well, if you’re family is from Colorado, there is a chance we’re related. That’s where my people are from. If you’re middle initial is ‘w’ then there’s probably a really good chance. Book one is always a good place to start.

Any Ridley is welcome around here! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. whats up mr. ridley? i’m half through your 3rd book now and wanted to say how awesome and different they are. do u have any idea of how many books will be in this series? just curious, thanks.

  7. Casey,

Thank you for stopping by my blog. I really appreciate your very kind words. I’m planning on 7 books. That may change, but that’s how I have it outlined for now. It’s possible I may be rewritting books 2 & 3. So stayed tuned. I’ll keep you posted.

  8. Hey Mr. Ridley,

Thanks for writing me back. Its pretty cool to be in contact with the author of some of my books. I’m looking forward to the next books. I’ve got around 60 pages left of book 3 now and its good so far, so why would you want to rewrite it? (These books would make great movies by the way.) Just something I thought you might want to look into. : )

  9. It’s pretty cool to be able to talk to a reader so thank you for visiting my blog. I basically am making changes because a large publisher is interested in the Oz Chronicles. They had some adjustment that they wanted me to make. So I’ve totally rewritten Book 2, and I’m now working on Book 3. Only time will tell if those new versions will ever be released.

And I have talked to some movie producers. Nothing has happened yet, but these things generally take a long time.

  10. I wish you luck with the rewrites, new publisher and the movies. Can’t wait. Go Aaron Rodgers.

  14. Hi There,
I love your books. They are very different.I wish I could buy them in ebook format though as the hard copies are hard to find.Look forward to reading more!

  15. Hi there, how did you say we can help you spread the word in return for winning the kindle? I watched the YouTube but not sure where to go from here :)!

  16. Mr. Ridley,

My name is Mrs. Christopher and I teach 7/8 reading in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Some of my students have read all three of your Oz Chronicles and would like to know when book four will be available? Please let me know! Thanks,

    • The last date I gave was April/May, and I think I can still meet that deadline, although it’s looking more like May – Second half of the month. I appreciate the kids reading the books. I’m working on a video study guide for the books. Happy to address any questions your kids may have about the series.

      Thank you,

  17. Hello Mr. Ridley,

I’ve been an avid reader all my life, but only recently found your books after purchasing a Kindle 3 from Amazon. I really enjoyed reading your first book in the Oz Chronicles, and have already purchased the 2nd in the series, as well as Lost Days to read. I really hope to see your other books brought to the Kindle very soon as well.

Thank you & keep up the great work ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Whoops, I see book 2 is available, but will still need sequential books in this series!

  19. I just happened across your site and I’m so glad I did. Your books look very intriguing. I’m putting them on my next reading list. (it’s huge, but I’m optimistic)

  20. Hello again Mr. Ridley,

Not sure if I will be able to wait for some of your other books to arrive on the Kindle. I may have to break down and buy them on dead tree format to sate my itch.

However, I did want to let you know, I’ve been reformatting some other books for the Kindle on my own. If you ever need any assistance with that due to your busy schedule, or want another set of eyes to glance over yours to look for those pesky errors, be they formatting, mistypes, etc., I’d be happy to assist. I make no claims of being a pro, but I believe I am sufficiently anal retentive & OCD to catch the majority of those kinds of errors. I seem to find them in almost all books, on paper & more so in their electronic forms.

I’m working on a couple of my own writing projects as well, though at an excessively slow rate of pace that some might understandably confuse for ‘not at all’. Its seeing ones such as yourself making the effort, with any amount of success that I find at least somewhat inspirational.

Thanks & hope things are going great,

  21. Not to hold your feet to the flame, but I note on your Amazon profile page that on 8/27/10, you stated:

Book 2 files have been uploaded. We’re working on Book Three and four now. Probably will post them a week apart.

Can we please get an update?

  22. Ive read the entire Oz chronicles series in about a weeks time. They are all really good but number 3 has multiple typos. One time Stevie was referred to as Tommy…. actually that happened a few times. other than that they are great books.

    • Jordan, Thank you so much for pointing that out to me. I have to apologize for the typos. I have to take the blame for that because it was the one book where I did most the editing myself. An author should never edit themselves. I’ve already talked to my editor and shes going to take a look at it for me.

  23. Dear Mr.Ridley,
OH MY GOSH I LOVE THE OZ CHRONICLES but the last book( the land of the dead) is a HUGE CLIFFHANGER! I’M PRAYING FOR YOU TO MAKE MORE BOOKS TO THE SERIES PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GOD PLEASE LET HIM MAKE MORE!Hey you know it would be a miracle i(well for me :D) and PUH-LEASE CORRECTLY FINISH THE OZ CHRONICLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it still needs like 4 -at least- books>:( please I’m a huge fan of the oz chronicles r.w please :'(Like for example they were left out in the mansion you should continue on saying they headed out and it was mid-day they were back at wes’s mattress store but a new type of monsters were there and on. like come on! please I’m begging you my friend is already love with the books and she is reading the takers please ๐Ÿ™‚ for a mega-fan.please tell me if you try an atte mpt to make the books.
    Thank you,from your mega-fan,
    Catherina ^^

    • Wow! Love your enthusiasm! Iโ€™ve got two more books outlined, and I will do my best to answer all the questions. Who knows? If Iโ€™m feeling good at the end of Book Six, I may leave the door open for a few more books. Thanks for being a mega fan, Catherina!

      • ๐Ÿ˜€ thank you thank you thank you and it was nice to talk to you i wish you good luck ๐Ÿ™‚ oh and if your still working on your new book then you do that i could wait ^^ i’m already hype that the books will be going out and i don’t want to be rude ^^.
        Thank you, your mega-fan,
        Catherina ๐Ÿ˜€

  24. Dear Mr.Ridley,
I had this great thought of making each book into a movie. i can already imagine the book when i read it but i want to really see it! Do you think it’s possible?
    thank you,from your mega-fan,

  25. I have talked to some filmmakers a few years ago, but movies take a long time to write, get approved and make. I hope it happens someday soon. Maybe if enough mega-fans start demanding it, who knows? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Thanks for your comment.

    • Thank you for your feedback ๐Ÿ˜€ (MY EXCXITEMENT IS BOILDING INSIDE) and trust me you have tons of fans

  26. I cannot compliment your Chronicles of Oz enough. I am brought back to when I first got into the fiction and horror genre with Steven King. His work for over a decade has be a shadow of previous volumes. Your work gives me something to look forward too again. I can only hope your name and works spread as I feel they could inspire new generations to reading while enriching the experience for current avid readers.

I notice that your work is also tacked to the Young Adult category. As a 35 year old it never occurred to me that the story was aimed at a younger audience. This is a good thing. The material is dealt with properly to be appropriate enough for Young Adults (even with the deep topics of survival, sacrifice, and death) while being crafted well enough to appeal to Adults.

Maybe someday a movie deal! I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies but had no desire to read the books. Your work has much more to sink your teeth into.

Keep up the great work! I can’t wait for the rest of the Chronicles.

  27. I lovedwhen you came to visit my school. I really hope there will be a fith oz chronicles.

    • I’m working on it, Nate. I was actually talking about it with someone yesterday. This ones tough to write because a character I really like doesn’t make it. Kind of bummed me out.

  28. Well…just finished the 4th Oz book (I started the series five days ago)…that was a great ride…can’t wait to see what happens next.

I see in a blurb that you grew up in TN…I live in Old Hickory and can’t wait to read more of your stuff.

    Thank you so much.

    • Thanks for your comments. The manuscript for book five is on my desk as I write this, so it will be out soon. I actually lived in a few places in Tennessee, but my teenage years were spent in Tullahoma. After college, I lived in Nashville for a couple of years working in country music television programing. I’m very familiar with Old Hickory.

      • I am honestly more excited about another Oz book than either of the remaining books of the Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) series. Thanks for cheering me up!

      • Wow! That is a great compliment. I wish I knew George R. R Martin, so I could rub it in in his face. ๐Ÿ™‚ Totally kidding. I love Game of Thrones, and I really do appreciate the comment!

      • CMT programming…nice. I performed on a few of the shows back in the 90’s…my dad is songwriter, Guy Clark.

When you come home to visit, let me know…I’d love to show you some of my favorite haunts.

  29. Hello Mr.Ridley,
I found your books, The Oz Chronicles, about a month ago and blew threw them in about 2 weeks because i enjoyed them so much, and stayed up all night reading them. I just wanted to say how awesome your books are and share how excited i am for books five, six, and seven.

    • Do you all know each other? This is the third great comment tonight. I appreciate it, Kevin. I hope to have Book Five out in no more than 2 months.

      • No I don’t know these other fans but i have been looking around on your blog alot recently and felt like saying how awesome these books are. ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. Mr. Ridley,

I just recently received a Kindle as a birthday gift, and The Takers was one of the first books I ended up downloading for it. (Mostly due to it being on the free e-book list. . . ) I am very glad that I did. I read it in a day, and then promptly bought the rest of the series for my Kindle. I very much have enjoyed the Oz Chronicles so far. Like one of the other comments above, they remind me of when I first started reading Stephen King, or Dean Koontz books. I enjoy the twists and turns and can’t wait for the next book out. I may go back and re-read them, just to see if I can gain more insight now that I know some of the “spoilers” about a few characters.

I did want to point out one of the errors I noticed in this last book. The bible verse that is mentioned is Jeremiah 19:9, but when Oz is confronting the old man he shouts Joshua 19:9 at him. I believe this is chapter 10.

Anyways, I am thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to the next book!

  31. Wow, your books were amazing, the Oz chronicles had such great plot twists and you were taking your time on the detail which some authors neglect. Its amazing that your fans actually originate from when the Takers was originally produced. I cant wait for the remaining books and think you are by far the best author i have read yet

  32. I have gobbled up books one through five via kindle (1 and 3 were freebies, the rest I would have paid way more for than I did!) in the last 36 hours. I do read freakishly fast, but this has my children thinking I am godlike, and my husband wondering if we will ever have a regular conversation without an ereader within reach. Would’ja write the next installment faster, man?! You left me hanging. Utterly and completely needing moremoremoremore nownownownow. Lucking onto you was a happy accident. My boys, 10,13,14, all eat books, and I was frantically downloading kindle samples looking for good ones to suggest to them. Your Oz books are a fantastic journey of imagination.

    • Welcome! Thanks for reading The Oz Chronicles. I’m at the very beginning stages of Book 6, so it will be a while, but I realize I left Book 5 on a cliff hanger. I’ve been contacted by a few readers insisting I get on with it. I’m working on something that will hopefully keep some of the readers satisfied until I release the next Oz installment. I’ll keep everyone posted on the blog. Thanks again for reading!

      • The Nicholas Flamel series by Michael Scott has some really awesome side stories that delve into the backstories of characters. I just ran across those in the kindle store. There is SO much in your Oz series that rabid fans would love to have explained. You could write tendrils of Oz stories for a long time and I, for one, would buy and read them all.

  33. Just want to say thanks as the parent of a very picky reader! She loves math and science but getting her to read is always a chore. She devoured 1-2, so I just bought 3-5 and The Man Who….I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to know there’s more to come.

    • Thank you, and I’m glad to hear she’s enjoying the books. I wish I was better at math! BTW – Two Notch isn’t a Young Adult title. It’s full of “strong” language and fairly violent themes. It’s an homage to two of my favorite authors, Cormac McCarthy and Charles Portis. You will probably find worse in books for young adults, but I thought you should be aware.

  34. I just found these books this week and have already blown through the first three. As an old Stephen King fan (before it was cool), I have to say your books are engaging, thought-provoking and an exciting read, just as his are. I was also surprised that these were classified as “young adult”. As a middle aged woman, you had no problem keeping my interest and I look forward to the rest of the series!

  35. WHERE IS BOOK 7!!! You can’t leave me hanging like this! I read all of your books in the past two weeks and now I am like a junkie shaking for my next fix! Is there an approximate release date?

    • Thank you, Angel. I so appreciate your comments! I’m due to begin the final stages of Book Seven in October. It will be coming sometime in the first half of 2014, which will coincide with the 10 year anniversary of the completion of Book One.
