Complaining and making a nuisance of yourself does payoff. I reported on Friday that I could not get MMMM-MMMM-MMMM by Crash Test Dummies out of my head, and my pal Hannah sent me a link to push that crappy song out of my brain. I’m happy to report it worked. Yea for me! I feel compelled to share it with you. “It is Say Hey (I love you)” by Michael Franti.
This is a follow up to yesterday’s post urging young people to change the current election system. This is my favorite musician, Ben Sollee, doing a Sam Cooke cover – A Change is Gonna Come.
Idealism is cool.
AC/DC’s new Album will be available exclusively in Wal-Mart stores this week. Before you dust off your evil corporate empire speech, keep in mind The Wal preordered 3 million copies of the CD. In a world where “fans” are uploading music on the “interweb” and sharing it with their friends from Akron to Zimbabwe for free, we shouldn’t begrudge the nice rock ‘n’ roll types for wanting to earn as many greenbacks as they can up front for the music they create.
In an act of pure hypocrisy, I am showcasing their new single “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train” on my blog. I feel no guilt because you can’t download it and transfer it to your MP3 audio device because it’s a youtube clip. You can just listen to it here or on youtube or on any other blog that includes it on their site. Besides I know you’re going to run out and buy the CD once you hear this. AC/DC still makes this sound work.
You know what I love about this video? Steve Perry felt the need to show us that he shaved the mustache off as if to say “Yeah, I know it looks stupid.” Mustache or no, there is no Journey without Steve Perry.
To be fair here’s Journey performing Faithfully with their new singer ARNEL PINEDA. He doesn’t even have a mustache to shave off. Pathetic.
Sometimes after you’ve been through an emotional rollercoaster that only a rubber Bigfoot can put you through you need a classic song from the 90s to put you back in the right frame of mind. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Blind Melon.
The nomination is wrapped up for Obama. McCain has his work cut out for him, because I have never heard a better speaker in my lifetime than Barack Obama. In honor of history being made tonight, I give you Yes We Can.
BTW – I think the speech he gave in Minesota tonight was his best speech yet.
