"Can you tell me the best way to the Interstate from here?"
The remake of the 1951 classic scifi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still, is set for a December release. When I use the word “classic”, I of course mean cheesy. The 1951 film is fun to watch, but it has the feel of a “B movie.” You can’t go into it expecting too much.
What few people know is that the film is loosely based on a short story written by Harry Bates in 1940. The title of the short story is Farewell to the Master. It has a much more interesting twist than the movie. The conceit is that mankind is so devoid of faith and replete with prejudice that we don’t recognize the true master. It’s a very powerful message.
I encourage you to click here and read the story: Farewell to the Master
